How the real BASSET test works

Every BASSET course licensed by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission ends with a test, given by the training program itself, whether you take the course in a classroom or online. There's no limit on how many times you can take the training, and once you pass, your certificate is good for three years anywhere in Illinois. Our Illinois BASSET Certification: How to Get Your Alcohol Server Card covers who needs it, the 120-day deadline, and how to keep proof of your certificate.

These are our own practice questions, written from the Illinois Liquor Control Act and ILCC guidance. FoodHandlerGear is not affiliated with the Illinois Liquor Control Commission or any BASSET training provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these the real BASSET test questions?

No. Each licensed training program writes its own test. These practice questions cover the same Illinois laws and service skills, so if you can explain these answers, you're ready.

What happens if I fail the BASSET test?

You can take the training again. Illinois puts no limit on how many times you can take it, and your provider will tell you how its retakes work.

Does BASSET cover the same material as a food handler course?

No. BASSET covers alcohol law and responsible service, while food handler training covers food safety. Many Illinois restaurant workers need both.
